Never worked well for me

Hi. I have tried many ways to get this thing to lay down a good weld. It's usually a sloppy mess. I can't find any info or video for the 185a to make sure I am properly setting it up.
Does a set-up manual exist? I did everything the short manual in the box read, but no success. I wonder if the one I have is defective.
Any direction appreciated. Here's info.
